The Tech Talent Summit, held on March 14, 2025, at FIU’s SIPA II, offered a career development experience unlike traditional job fairs. Rather than focusing solely on employer booths and resume exchanges, this day-long summit fostered meaningful interaction between students, employers, faculty, and alumni in a dynamic, community-driven environment designed to simulate real-world hiring and working conditions.

Organized by the Tech Talent Academy in collaboration with Career and Talent Development, Experiential Learning with Technology, and industry partners, the event featured curated panels, collaborative workshops, and speed networking—all structured to go beyond transactional recruiting. From the outset, students were encouraged to engage not as applicants but as peers-in-development, ready to learn, reflect, and practice key skills.

The agenda included a hands-on elevator pitch workshop, company speed networking, and a student success panel where tech interns shared their journeys, challenges, and wins. These personal stories provided relatable role models and demystified pathways into competitive internships. The Speed Networking activity was strategically scheduled after the elevator pitch workshop, allowing students to practice their pitch confidently by interacting with each employer present. Later, a Technical Interview Prep facilitated by UKG and a rich Industry Panel brought top professionals from organizations like eMed, the FBI, and Assurant to offer candid advice on hiring trends, skills gaps, and workplace culture.

Capping the day was an Employer Spotlight, where recruiters had just 120 seconds to pitch their opportunities directly to students—reversing the script of traditional fairs. The summit concluded with a recognition ceremony and employer networking reception, blending celebration with continued relationship-building.

This immersive format allowed students not just to discover job leads, but to practice communication, build confidence, and develop professional presence. It empowered them with real-time feedback and visibility among industry leaders, reinforcing the Tech Talent Academy’s mission: preparing students not just to apply for tech roles, but to succeed in them.
